HOUSING has become more affordable for teachers in the North-west since 1992, despite national fears of a widening house price gap, it has been claimed.
The average property in the region now costs about 2.68 times a teacher's salary, down from 3.06 times 10 years ago, mortgage lender Halifax has said.
Usually lenders advance about 3.25 times an applicant's salary.
