THE Mayor of Bolton is hoping to raise extra cash for his charity appeal this year with a new sponsorship deal for businesses.
For the first time, Cllr John Walsh has introduced different levels of sponsorship to encourage more companies to invest in his chosen charity, the Bolton Evening News-backed Bolton Coronary Care Unit Appeal.
Four packages -- Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze -- are available to sponsors from between £1,000 and £5,000.
In return they will receive invitations to the Mayor's four main charity events and receive other benefits.
Cllr Walsh said: "By introducing tiered levels of support, businesses of all sizes can get involved.
"I am offering an unrivalled opportunity to attend prestigious mayoral charity events at the Reebok Stadium and in the Albert Halls. Our receptions and dinners here at the Town Hall are a marvellous way to impress clients and valued staff. The existing Coronary Care Unit is 30 years old and has only six beds. I am determined to use my year of office to help the £1 million appeal to provide better facilities for the people of Bolton.
"I hope that businesses in the borough will support me in this effort."
