CHORLEY kicked off their pre-season friendly programme with an impressive 2-1 victory over Ilkeston Town at Victory Park.
Second half goals from trialist Anthony Hogan and last season's leading scorer Andy Mason saw the Magpies record a morale-boosting victory over their Dr Martens Premier League visitors, who are currently managed by former Bolton star John McGinlay.
And the home side could have won more comfortably but for a first half penalty miss by trialist Chris Patterson.
Magpies boss Mark Molyneaux was delighted with the work out and he used the game as an opportunity to look at a number of new faces.
Chorley are in next action against Bury on Saturday at Victory Park (kick-off 3pm) but they also have a home game lined up against an Everton XI on Saturday July 27.
