ON June 17 I printed a photograph of Chorley Road, Wingates, in 1938; it has brought a couple of letters. The first was from E Booth, of Bolton Road, Westhoughton, who says the boy on the right was Albert Booth, her husband, and they have been married for 53 years.
Then Albert's daughter Vanessa Smith, of Croft Street, Wingates, contacted me to also identify Albert - "at the forefront of the photograph is a cheeky chubby-faced young lad.
That lad is now a cheeky chubby-faced 75-year-old.
He was 11, and on his way home from school.
At that time he lived at 132 Chorley Road, but those houses were demolished years ago."
