THERE were no shocks in the singles events at the BSF Tennis Tournament.

All the seeded players progressed through the second round without undue difficulty.

Andy Livingstone, having survived a first round scare against teenager Anthony Nolan was again stretched with Chris Ullathorne taking him to three sets.

Good progress was also made in the ever popular handicap events.

Tournament referee Alan Prince graced the courts partnered by Bill Roscoe, and overcame a heavy handicap to progress in the veteran men's doubles event.

There was an upset in the level ladies doubles event when Markland Hill pair Becky Dennard and Caroline Pyatt defeated the number four seeds from Holcombe Brook, Hayley Warrington and Danielle Hock.

Play starts at 6pm, spectators are welcome and there is no admission charge.
