I AM writing reference a letter regarding taxis and their noise, also alarms and loud music from cars.
As the law stands, music cannot be stopped between 7.30am and 11pm, but if it continues to annoy as unreasonable, the local environment office can be contacted.
Alarms going off regularly should be reported to the police, as they will know who is the key holder and can contact them to notify their alarm is ringing.
Taxis should, as all other vehicles, only use the horn in emergencies. But it seems that, if a customer orders a taxi, which will arrive in 10 minutes, they don't start looking until 15 minutes approaches. Time is money to a taxi driver, so one hoot is only a call to a customer. The horn should not be used between between 11pm and 7.30am. So, come on customers, be fair with taxi drivers, you would soon complain if your taxi drove off.
If the hooting problem continues, each taxi has an ID number. Either phone the taxi firm or, if really bad, the local registration office. The great Human Race is also to blame. But, in the case of taxis, one needs to contact DVLA with registration number. Loud music should not be to excess. If it is, then it is Environmental Health Department's responsibility.
