LANCASHIRE Road Club's Craig Battersby has produced two club record rides in 10 and 25 mile races.
In the 25-mile Scarborough Paragon event, which attracted many of the country's top time trialists, including British best all-rounder Kevin Dawson, Craig finished in fifth place overall, with a fabulous time of 52 minutes 40 seconds.
And he backed that up with another fifth place in the 10-mile race in Hull, finishing in 20.09.
But for unshiping his chain at the five-mile mark, Craig would have been the first LRC rider to complete a race in an average speed of more than 30 miles per hour.
The previous weekend Craig was confirmed as the club's SPOCO champion by finishing third overall. LRC's only other qualifier in the championship, Paul Shalliker, finished in 10th position.
Other riders in action last weekend were Mike Smith, Colin Greenhalghand Alex Munro, who all rode in a 25-mile event organised by Derwent Valley CC on the A66 near Cockermouth.
Mike was the fastest LRC rider, finishing second overall in a time of 57.41, while Colin completed the distance in 1.04.04 and Alex in 1.08.14.
The club's next ride will be to the Koronet Cafe in Southport on Sunday.
