THE LONG awaited arrival of summer weather produced an epidemic of low scores in the third qualifying round of the Summer Medal at Turton as no less than 30 players finished under par in ideal conditions.
Colin Harker took the honours with a very steady round but might have lost out if Ray Burke had have improved on his bogey, double bogey finish.
Several lower handicap players made a welcome return to form with John Williams playing like he did earlier in the season in the mixed to win the first division.
Roy Warburton demonstrated that at last he is coming to terms with the course but a triple bogey seven at the easy 13th hole ensured that he was unable to mount an attack on the course record.
