IF Bolton Council Highways Department is urging the public to help them keep roads free from overhanging vegetation, as per your recent article, I suggest they have a word in the ear of most property owners and Bolton Golf Club about the state of Chorley New Road, from Fall Birch Road to as far as Bolton School.
After the recent heavy storms, the majority of that stretch of the road was littered with debris from overhanging large trees. Huge branches were on the pavements and sometimes had fallen into the middle of the carriageway. Many of these trees are overgrown and dangerous, they could fall on to pedestrians and vehicles. Some of the trees are almost touching others on the opposite side.
I suggest the council should do a major pruning of these trees before there is an accident. They also make Chorley New Road quite dark at times. Something should be done.
