THE Territorial Army has come up with a brainwave in a bid to uncover recruits in Chorley.
Soldiers from Chorley-based 29 (Volunteer) Military Intelligence Company are staging an open day this weekend for men and women interested in joining their ranks.
Members of the detachment will be at the TA centre at Lancaster House, Devonshire Street, this Saturday from 8am to 6pm to explain what it takes to become a member of 3 (Volunteer) Military Intelligence Battalion.
Major Phaedra McLean, the officer commanding, said: "We are looking for anyone, male or female, who would like to join us and be trained in a variety of interesting trades, including combat intelligence and field security as well as basic soldiering skills, such as fieldcrafts and weapon handling." After completing their initial training soldiers can look forward to working alongside other TA Intelligence Corps personnel from across the UK in a variety of interesting and challenging roles. In recent years the company has been on exercise in Oman, Cyprus and the UK whilst individual members have served in Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia and Sierra Leone.
If you are interested but cannot make it this Saturday, call 0121 444 2730.
