TWICE in the last two weeks crowds of about 15,000 people have packed into Haydock Park to watch top class horse racing.
Now the racecourse is aiming for another bumper attendance at its annual Saturday evening summer fixture this weekend - the fifth race meeting in just 16 days during July.
And, there's a big incentive to go because every lady gets into the racecourse for half price - and there's a happy hour when all drinks are half price.
The focus of the evening is Lancashire international cricketer Peter Martin's benefit year. In fact, Saturday's is the first of two fixtures - the next one is in November - to feature "Digger's" benefit.
On course, there are some interesting entries from Europe's top trainer Aidan O'Brien.
His horses don't come to Haydock Park too often - the Irishman tending mostly to restrict his entries in England to the Classics or Royal Ascot.
But the man who has sent out the last two Epsom Derby winners, Galileo and High Chaparral, has put three horses into the race for two-year-olds that have yet to win a race.
Haydock Park's gates open at 4.30pm - and the happy hour lasts until 5.30pm.
Racing starts at 6.40pm, with the last race at 9.10pm.
