SPENDING a scorching Saturday at home waiting for an electrician who didn't show is not my idea of fun. There were plenty of other things I could have been doing -- like hearing Bury bands Elbow and Hanky Park play out of their skins at the climax of the four-day Move Festival, which featured David Bowie, Paul Weller, Suede, New Order and The Doves.
While I was rubbing two sticks together in a bid to get tea going, things were really happening at Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Back from two exhausting US tours and in the middle of a hectic UK schedule, Elbow mesmerised the crowd in what has been hailed as their best live performance.
And right up there with the big boys were Hanky Park, who kicked things off after an 11-th hour call-up that had band members scrambling round the globe to get back in time.
The only problem was, being on stage 15 minutes after the gates opened meant only a lucky few got to see the boys strut their stuff so well.
Hats off to a fantastic performance from you both.
Now, does anyone know a reliable electrician?
