BURY Council has won a fight to move an eight-year-old boy to a special school -- 80 miles away from his mother.
The High Court has ruled that moving the child from the Bury area to Cumbria does not breach his human rights.
His mother, who is a heroin user, admitted she cannot look after the boy who has been in Bury Council's care since 1998, but she says she wants contact with him.
Judge Dame Elizabeth Butler Sloss ruled that the council's proposal was sensible although the case was difficult.
