A SOCCER fan from Blackrod who followed his beloved Wigan Athletic around the country has died aged 33.
David Wiggans, known to his friends as Wiggy, died from an aneurysm, a swelling of the wall of an artery, after falling ill at work.
His parents, Keith and Barbara, of Meadow Way, Blackrod, and fiance, Paula, are devastated. David and Paula lived in Bamfurlong, Wigan, where he was described as everyone's friend.
Mr Wiggans said: "David was always really busy doing jobs for people and running errands."
He and Paula had just bought Wigan Athletic season tickets, and had followed the team around the country last season.
David was a former pupil at Rivington and Blackrod High School and worked for a distribution firm in Hindley Green.
He and Paula had planned to be at the Commonwealth Games as her sister, Susan Jones, is a high jumper in the England squad.
