MFORMER Bolton League cricketer Steve Dublin is hoping to bring some of cricket's top stars to a charity game in aid of the Hope Hospital appeal.

Dublin is leading a Bury Cricket Club team against the legendary Lashings XI, the Kent based side that features some of the world's greatest players.

The match takes place on Friday, July 26 at Bury Cricket Club and the programme includes a Who's Who of world cricket stars.

The Lashings XI will be captained by Jimmy Adams of the West Indies and also billed are fellow Caribbean stars Brian Lara, Sherwin Campbell, Courtney Walsh and Sir Vivian Richards. They may also be joined by Allan Donald of South Africa and Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram, Waquar Younis and Inzaman Ul Haq of Pakistan.

MTHE semi-final draw for the League's Hamer Cup has kept apart favourites Walkden and Kearsley, who have both been given home ties.

In the last four on August 4, Kearsley are at home to Greenmount and Walkden entertain Westhoughton.

MTHE draw for the semi-finals of the Birtwistle Cup on August 4 is Greenmount v Kearsley and Farnworth SC v Walkden.

MTHE second round draw of the Lyddon Cup pairs together Little Lever and Kearsley, Tonge against Walkden or Greenmount, Farnworth SC at home to Bradshaw while Westhoughton or Eagley will entertain the winners of the first round game between Horwich and Astley Bridge.

MHEATON won the Reuben Mather Trophy for the second year in succession.

They beat Little Lever by 91 runs after scoring 154-2. Top scorer was Simon Booth with 53 while Carson added 51 and Cliff an unbeaten 30.

In reply Little Lever were bowled out for only 74, J Mooney contributing 53 of those runs while P Hunter took 3-21for Heaton, Carson 2-4 and Jones 2-26.
