THE celebration of the silver wedding of Col. Hesketh, VD, and Mrs Hesketh, was made the occasion of a pleasurable trip and re-union at Blackpool on Saturday. The employees of Messrs T.M. Hesketh and Sons, Ltd, Astley Bridge, and Albert Mill, Horwich, were by the generosity of the firm treated to a trip to Blackpool, the mills being closed for the day.
The employees, to the number of 673, received every facility for visiting the various places of amusement in Blackpool, and needless to say these were made full advantage of. At ten o'clock the company assembled in the ballroom of the Tower, where an interesting function took place, in the presentation of a silver plate to Col. and Mrs Hesketh. The 26-inch solid silver salver, splendidly engraved, weighed nearly 160oz.
