THE school run will never be the same again for two Bolton teachers. They are swapping a drive down St Peter's Way for a stroll in the sunshine.
Ian and Lynn Tarry, of Astley Bridge, are heading off to Spain to start new teaching jobs in La Nucia near Benidorm.
The couple met in 1988 at St Martin's College, Lancaster, where they studied for their PGCE teaching qualifications and shared a student house.
Lynn has been teaching at St Gregory's RC Primary School, Farnworth for 13 years and will miss the children at the school.
She said: "The kids I teach are quite excited about me going because they've never known a teacher to move abroad before. They say they're going to miss me though, and I'll really miss them."
Ian has been a supply teacher for the past few years, but worked at Hardy Mill CP School and Harwood Meadows Primary School for nine years after qualifying. He gave up full-time teaching to further his own education, and completed a tourism management degree at Bolton Institute.
He said: "We decided to move out to Spain because we much prefer their relaxed, slower pace of life. And the weather, too!"
The house they will be moving to is far removed from their home in Bar Lane, Astley Bridge -- it is set between mountains and under the Spanish sunshine.
Their new school, Elian's British School, teaches the curriculum in both Spanish and English.
Ian has started to learn Spanish and Lynn is looking forward to learning the language, too.
Ian said: "We hope to start at the school at the end of August. I think we'll need a bit of time to get used to the place first though!"
