THE Shakers kicked off their official pre-season friendly programme with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Chorley.
A goal in each half from trialist Steve McAuley, the former Crewe skipper, and 17-year-old Dave Nugent gave Andy Preece's side the edge.
The Bury boss used the game to give run-outs to every fit first team player as well as a handful of the club's promising youngsters.
The Bury boss was pleased with the run-out especially as it came on the back of a behind closed doors match against Blackpool on Friday that the Shakers won 2-0 thanks to goals from Jon Newby and the manager himself.
The Shakers have two more behind closed door matches this week travelling to Blackburn Rovers today then Leeds United on Thursday before the annual trip to Radcliffe Boro on Saturday (3pm).
