WHEN this photograph of St. Thomas's, Halliwell, CE football team in 1951 appeared on June 14, the sender, Cyril Dean, now of Suffolk, asked if anyone could name them.

"The feedback was great", he tells me, with telephone calls, e-mails, letters "and I have made contact with people not in the photograph I have not heard from for 45 years."
One of the people who contacted him was Joan Heaton, and she names them as: Teachers, Mr Bonsey and Mr James. Boys, back row from left: A. Scholes, A. Otterley, F. Warburton, C. Dean, N. Layland, R. Thompson.
Front row: C. Ward, D. Wright, G. Heaton, C. Tolliday, M. Holt.
"The captain was my late husband Gordon Heaton," she writes, "who was also a good cricketer and pro'd for Roe Green."
