A GIRL whose foot was nearly severed after a collision with a car is "stable" in hospital. Zoe Cornes, aged 11, of Tredgold Street, Horwich, dashed across the road to a shop on Sunday when the accident happened.
She thought there was a gap in the traffic on Chorley New Road and was in collision with the car. Zoe's foot became jammed under the rear wheel of the car, tearing her ankle. It is believed major blood vessels in her ankle were not damaged in the accident and doctors will be able to repair the damage.
Mrs Cornes said: "Children need to take care when they are crossing roads. With the summer holidays just starting they are all going to be out and about, especially if the weather's nice."
Zoe's mother, Beverley, aged 32, has warned other youngsters to take care during the summer holidays when out and about in the town.
