TOP golfers -- like Seve Ballasteros, Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam -- could become familiar faces in the region.
A new annual golfing tournament, set up by Sefton and Wirral councils, hopes to attract the sports stars.
The Merseyside Festival of Golf is due to start in September next year. The event is initially planned to run for four years.
The week-long festival will be partly founded by a European Objective One grant of £360,000.
