MANCHESTER City Council, all local MP's and the Euro MP Gary Titley have all condemned firearms over the last few years.
Quite laudable when it comes to the criminal use of firearms, but all supported a blanket ban on all types of firearms, even going as far as putting a block on all of the Manchester City Library websites in relationship to firearms.
They even tried to stop all shooting events at the Commonwealth Games, but the Commonwealth Games committee refused to let them have the Games unless they included shooting, so they put the shooting events as far away as possible at Bisley in Surrey, instead of a local venue at Altcar near Liverpool.
Therefore I find it all the more amazing that the Manchester City Council Commonwealth Games Committee have put a bulletin out on BBC television featuring a young girl running a race against a bullet. I think that this promotion is crass and grossly hypocritical of Manchester Council due to there condemnation of all firearms, even for sporting use and especially due to the large number of shootings in the Moss Side and Longsight areas of the city.
