A RECYCLING revolution is set to transform Chorley waste disposal over the next 12 months.
The council has received extra funding from the government for more kerb side collections of green waste and newspapers, starting this summer. The aim is to recycle 1,300 tonnes of paper in 2002.
Councillor Mary Wilson, executive member for community services, said: "The people of Chorley are crying out to do their bit for the environment by recycling more of the waste which would otherwise be thrown into landfills."
John Lechmere, the council's head of environmental services said:
"Landfill is filling up and getting more expensive. Eventually we will not be able to take the rubbish away unless it is sorted into recycling bins."
