BOLTON Council has approved plans to put up gates at the main entrance of Walmsley Primary School to stop cars coming in and out and ensure the safety of pupils.
But the proposals will lead to an increase in traffic and on-street parking on busy Blackburn Road.
Planning chiefs agreed with school officials that this must come secondary to children's safety.
The gates will open to allow vehicles in between 8.30am and 9.10am and 3pm and 4pm.
