BOLTON Juniors came out tops against South Lancashire, a fixture that is generally considered to be the toughest of the season.
And what made victory so pleasing was that seven players were unavailable for Bolton because of England and Lancashire call, illness and holidays with most of their replacements coming in to make their Bolton debuts.
The morning foursomes went the way of South Lancs 4-2 with the notable Bolton performance coming from Regent Park's Joe Morrissey and Westhoughton's Ian Gregory who achieved a super 9 & 8 win.
That was added to with a 2 and 1 win from Bolton Golf Club's Nick Baxter, and Chris Seddon of Old Links, while the Brickell brothers, Warren and Shaun from Breightmet halved their match.
The tide turned Bolton's way in the afternoon singles.
Captain Andy Atherton of Chorley scored an early 5 and 4 win leading the way for Danny Hunt of Regent Park to triumph 4 & 2.
The final result hinged on the last two matches but Great Lever's Gareth Foulkes halved his match on the 18th while Morrissey made sure of the win when he came in one up to earn Bolton's 10-9 success.
