UP to 3,000 jobs could be axed at Sellafield if contracts for the troubled Thorp nuclear reprocessing plant dry up, unions have been warned.
The Government has revealed it will not give Thorp any lucrative new contracts until it has reviewed the environmental implications of reprocessing. Union chiefs claim this could be a "catastrophic" blow for west Cumbria.
