TWO Bolton ambulancemen climbed 100 feet in near darkness to a quarry face to rescue a badly injured climber last night. He was lying in agony after falling 15 feet down the disused quarry off Green Arms Road, Turton. The man, 41-years-old Brian Morrissey, had been climbing with his son David, a friend, and an American youth. Other rock climbers who were at the quarry rushed to his aid after seeing the fall, and one dashed about a mile to a local pub to raise the alarm.

MR Freddie Fox, of Derby-st., a well-known Bolton tradesman, has been booked for five weeks' run in the show at the Windmill Theatre, London. It has taken him 20 years to build up his 10-minute comedian's act, during which time he has been an entertainer in a semi-professional capacity - working in his shop during the day, and entertaining friends at night.

His act was so successful that he decided to try his luck in London's West End. He did an audition for Vivian Van Damm, and has ben offered a contract, which begins on Oct. 6th. Mr Fox has already made an appearance on television on "What's My Line?", and he hopes to present his act on television before Christmas.
