MANY congratulations to Bolton Council and the horticulturists on winning an award at Tatton Flower Show.
It's a great pity that more effort has not been put into Queen's Park. Especially the commemorative bed of roses for our Bolton Hospice, which many people sponsored.
I was pleased to sponsor a rose bush, but, until last week, have been unable to visit the site. I do not begrudge the £25 paid knowing it is for the benefit of our Hospice. But I have to say the area has been sadly neglected. It badly needs weeding and pruning. Some bushes have died and others have no labels on.
Bolton Council, I am told, have taken over the maintenance. The local contact has assured me these problems will be seen to this week. Let us hope they make good their promises and the area looks at least half as good as the Tatton Flower show one.
