www.uselessknowledge.com

WHAT a refreshingly honest title for a website. It is wrong of course. I have no doubt lots of you are desperate to find out why people sneeze, why do feet smell and how much -- in chemical parts -- their body may be worth. I will accept that, perhaps, the queue of people wanting to know why they get dizzy when they spin is slightly smaller -- but not by much. Useless indeed! We always wanted to know what the young Charles Dickens wanted to be when he grew up... didn't we?

www.octanecreative.com/Parodyville/

HOW to describe this site? It's funny, but it's very American so sometimes losing something in the translation. The original aim was to create parodies of American newspaper reports, TV advertisements etc but it seems to have grown into a collection of funny anecdotes, photographs and stories. Don't miss "Great Mobile Homes of Mississippi"; "Nostradamus Fulfilled"; "Big Stuff By The Side of the Road"; and "How Not to Leave A Phone Message". The worrying thing about this site is that a lot of it is true!

www.blood.co.uk

THE website of the National Blood Service, this site tells you a lot about why we need to give blood, what it is used for and where you can give it. I found it worrying that an indicator of national stocks shows that we have only around half as much as we need.

www.cricket.co.uk

TALK about a labour of love. This site is continuously updated with news from around the world about cricket. At no time is there anything much more than 30 minutes old. Maybe they have some sort of search filter. It is also very simple to navigate. Just lists of articles with subject, origin and date. But I couldn't find anything anywhere that showed how Lancashire are going to win the County Championship!
