LINDSAY Hoyle MP has called for the Government to act to prevent the illegal slaughter of British songbirds abroad.
During the winter, the birds migrate to Cyprus, where they are prized as a delicacy.
An estimated 800,000 were killed in a single day last year, many illegally. Mr Hoyle, MP for Chorley, including Adlington, has urged the Government to work with the Cypriot authorities and the RSPB to stop this needless slaughter.
