BRAZILIAN striker Junior is on his way home having failed to convince Sam Allardyce he has what it takes.

The Wanderers' boss said, after the friendly in Bormio: "Junior had a little more of a difficult time of it. He's got a lot of talent in possession but his overall strength and pace were not good enough for what we are looking for."

Wanderers will check out others on their list of "squad fillers" - primarily from the French market - but Allardyce says he is being selective in the trialists he brings in.

"We're not in as desperate position to get people in as we were in previous years," he said. "We're only talking about checking out one or two."
