SEBASTIAN Chabbaret has earned himself another chance to show his Premiership potential.

The 24-year-old keeper from the French club Lens on trial with Wanderers in Italy, impressed in the 2-1 victory over Bulgarian side Litex Lovech and has been pencilled in for a game against Inter Milan at Reggiana on Saturday.

"The goalkeeper performed very well in terms of the shots he had at him and the saves he made," the Wanderers' boss said, encouraged by the succession of saves Chabbaret made late in the game to prevent the Bulgarian UEFA Cup entrants snatching a draw.

"There was a bit of exaggeration as you get with some foreign goalkeepers but his agility and shot stopping were very good and he'll work with (goalkeeping coach) Fred Barber for the rest of the week before we make our mind up after the Inter game."

Wanderers will check out others on their list of "squad fillers" - primarily from the French market - but Allardyce says he is being selective in the trialists he brings in.

"We're not in as desperate position to get people in as we were in previous years," he said. "We're only talking about checking out one or two."
