SAM Allardyce reacted philosophically to the revelation that Ivan Campo has decided against joining Wanderers to fight for his place at Real Madrid.

"I haven't heard anything officially but if he doesn't want to come, he doesn't want to come." the Reebok boss said.

"He may be saying he wants to stay in Madrid but my impression is that they don't want him there. We'll have to look elsewhere but there are plenty other fish in the sea. "

Campo revealed he has turned down Wanderers despite them agreeing a deal with Real Madrid.

The Spanish centre back admitted the proposal from Bolton was very attractive from a financial perspective, but is determined to fight for his place at Santiago Bernabeu.

As the defender has only a year left on his contract, Real are keen to off-load him in order to obtain a fee for his services.

"This season, there are still possibilities to be playing for Madrid," he said.

Campo did not close the door permanently on the prospect of heading for he Premiership, but feels the time is not right to be quitting the European champions.

After being beset by injuries last term, the stopper is desperate to make a better impression in the Spanish capital next season.
