LANCASHIRE's opponents Hampshire have been docked eight Frizzell County Championship points after their Rose Bowl pitch was rated as "poor" by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Twenty-two wickets fell on Friday as Lancashire's James Anderson claimed six for 23 and added two more in the second innings.
The home side were set a victory target of 238, but were 54 for four at stumps after John Wood and Anderson took a brace of wickets each.
And an ECB pitch panel comprising of Tony Brown, pitch liaison officer, and cricket operations manager Alan Fordham was convened to investigate.
A statement from the ECB read: "After interviewing the umpires, captains and coaches of both teams and the groundsman, the panel decided that the pitch had demonstrated undue uneven bounce throughout the first two days and should, therefore, be rated "poor".
"As a consequence, an automatic deduction of eight championship points has been imposed on Hampshire."
Hampshire are currently fifth in Division One, with 90 points and only one victory from their nine games.
