LUCKLESS Daisy Hill finally recorded their first win of the season to haul themselves from the foot of the Bolton Cricket League table writes Chris Hall

But for a late downpour, they would have celebrated a day earlier but had to settle for a share of the spoils against Darcy Lever.

Finally, though, they had something to cheer about as Mo Sayed and Under 18s batsman Mark Wood both struck 72 to steer Daisy Hill to a winning total of 242-4 against Standish.

Arindam Sarkar, 76, and Simon Maiden, 71, starred as Standish set a strong but not unassailable target of 238-4.

Edgworth replaced Daisy Hill as the basement dwellers after clinging on for a draw at Clifton.

The home side were bowled out for 206 runs, Dave Parkinson setting the standard with 78 and Dave Hamilton adding a useful 46, while Edgworth pro Faisal Ahmed took 5-42.

Parkinson then took 4-30 to kill off hopes of an Edgworth victory but, armed by a strong 44 from Stephen Liversadge, the visitors battled on to finish at 166-8.

At the other end of the table, 16-year-old Lee Chapman's first three senior runs were vital in securing a last-gasp victory for leaders Walshaw at Elton.

Chris Hall's 44 was not enough to stop Elton slumping to 133 all out under pressure from fine bowling from Jonathan Fielding, 4-47, and Rob Faulkener, 3-3.

But once Faulkener was run out for 28, Walshaw's reply crashed from a comfortable 84-4 to a near disastrous 96-8.

Chapman joined Ashley Parkinson at the crease for the last-wicket stand and managed to hold on to his wicket until Parkinson hita four off the last ball to take the spoils.

Second-placed Spring View kept in touch with a four-wicket triumph over Adlington.

The visitors posted a decent target of 198-8, through Andrew Robinson, 74 and Darryl Hitchen, 50, despite Ian Critchely knocking off 4-56.

Mike Rawlings took 4-27 in an attempt to disrupt the reply but the target was reached thanks largely to Nigel Geary's 80 runs.

That win pulled them 10 points clear of third-placed Little Hulton, who struggled to a draw at home to Astley and Tyldesley.

A&T set a victory target of 216, with professional Bazid Khan striking a magnificent 107 runs, but the home side could only muster 193-8 to clinch a share of the honours.

Professional Rehman Shah took 5-50 as Lostock clinched a six-wicket triumph over Darcy Lever. Lever struggled to 161 all out, before Shah's 39 with the bat helped steer his side to victory.

Jack Southworth had a fine knock of 89 runs to help Blackrod clinch a four-wicket win at home to Golborne.

L Cook's 68 not out was the highlight of Golborne's tally of 176-9, Terry Southworth taking six wickets for 63 runs.

Halls bowling figures of 4-44 were also worth a mention and he will be looking for a different result when the teams go head-to-head in the Cross Cup final next month.
