A BOLTON Euro-MP has called on the Indian Government to take increasing measures to promote democracy in the troublesome region of Kashmir.
Liberal Democrat MEP, Chris Davies, has called for the administration to allow international monitors to oversee forthcoming elections in Kashmir to prevent the recurrence of vote rigging and intimidation.
The proposal has already been rejected by the Indian Prime-Minister as an infringement of their national sovereignty, but Mr Davies has urged him to reconsider.
He said: "There is no excuse for the terrible atrocities that have been carried out against Hindus in Kashmir. Far from apposing international monitoring India should be encouraging it if only to demonstrate that it has nothing to hide."
