WIGAN were left counting the cost of the win over Widnes with wing star Brett Dallas added to the casualty list and out of Tuesday's crunch game against arch rivals St Helens.

Dallas, making his comeback after four matches out, was carried off on a stretcher in the second half of Friday's 38-8 success at the JJB Stadium.

Coach Stuart Raper said: "He has dislocated his knee but it has gone back in and hopefully it's not a major injury."

Raper praised the performance of Australian star David Furner, who is not being offered a new contract by the Warriors because of salary cap restrictions.

He said: "You always get 110per cent from him in every game and I'm sure a few sides will be queuing up to get him."

Raper also saluted man of the match Adrian Lam, and tipped him as a contender for the player of the season award.

He said: "He's playing some exceptional football and has been outstanding all year."

Widnes coach Neil Kelly said: "We are not too upset and didn't deserve to lose by that score.

"Overall I was pleased with the performance - Wigan play at a level we are trying to get to."

Saints had to come from 16-0 down to defeat a gallant Halifax 21-18 at the Shay while Leeds held off a spirited Salford to win 39-38 at Headingley. Bradford beat a depleted Castleford 40-18.
