GREENMOUNT pro Robin Morris led the Bolton League to a three wicket Trinity Cup win over the Association at Darcy Lever writes Peter Mensforth

The man of the match came in with the League on 47-3 in reply to the Association's 189-7, and after putting things back on track cut loose with a collection of boundaries.

The Association looked on track when they had the first two League batsmen back in the pavilion for 14 it looked as if victory could be theirs.

Better was to follow when Brett Collins produced a fine caught and bowled to dismiss Tonge pro Adil Nisar. Yet they had no answer to Morris, who survived an early run out chance before taking on all of the bowlers.

He and Paul Rayment put on 70 to take the score to 117 before he finally went for 57 bowled by Clifton's Andrew Griffiths.

But Rayment kept the scoreboard ticking over with 53 not out, before Fazel Akber grabbed the winnings runs with five overs to spare.

Earlier the Association innings recovered from the early blow of losing opener Nick Fawcett with a solid partnership between Anthony Harris and Bhazid Khan.

They took the score to 42 before Harris was out for 22 but Khan went on to craft a fine half century with two sixes and seven fours. Even when Steve Knowles went without scoring, the total of 105-4 off 30 overs looked a good platform to register a total of 200 plus. Sensing this, the League bowling attack started to turn the screw and not only did they slow down the run rate they also captured the vital wickets of Mihir Diwakar, Arindam Sarkar and Tony Kelly.

That brought together Walshaw pair Rob Faulkner and Brett Collins and together they managed to settle the situation.

They put on another 34 and inspired a total of 189-7.
