SEBASTIAN Chabbaret is ready to join the growing legion of French recruits at the Reebok.

The goalkeeper from Lens completed a successful trial with Wanderers with an impressive second half performance against Inter Milan on Saturday and is hoping he has done enough to follow his countrymen Bruno N'Gotty, Youri Djorkaeff, Gerald Forschelet and Jeremy Bonn into the Bolton ranks.

"I would like to come to Bolton," Chabbaret said before returning to France where he is available on a free transfer. "I have enjoyed the games with them but I will have to wait and see ... I do not know what will happen."

Sam Allardyce has already opened negotiations with the player's agent, making it clear the 24-year-old will have to settle for a position as back-up to his undisputed number one Jussi Jaaskelainen along with Kevin Poole but, seemingly, ahead of the out of favour Steve Banks.

"I've been quite impressed with him in his last two half games on the Italian trip," theWanderers' boss confirmed. "As always with foreign goalkeepers, he tends to punch quite a bit but he has worked hard with our goalkeeping coach, Fred Barber.

"We'll be having a chat with his agents but he knows the position here is for a number two, or three, with Kevin Poole."
