A GOAL from Lee Connell earned Bury a 1-0 victory in their annual pre-season friendly clash against neighbours Radcliffe Boro writes Phil Thorp

Shakers boss Andy Preece was far from impressed with the performance against the UniBond First Division side and believes his charges have some way to go before they are ready for the big kick-off on August 10.

"The hot weather tested our fitness but for me that was all we got out of that game," said Preece.

"I was disappointed with our passing. We have to show a lot better quality than that.

"The players need to show more urgency and make better decisions on the ball and our finishing needs improving on."
