COMMONWEALTH Games organisers are launching an urgent appeal for volunteers to help with costumes, props and dressing for the opening and closing ceremonies.
Enthusiasts are needed to help out in the costume department, organising fittings and making alterations for a range of outfits being prepared for the ceremonies. Extra help is required to assist with prop maintenance.
Susan Woodward, creative director of Manchester 2002, said: "We are not looking for experts but people who are organised, enjoy working as part of a team and would like to be involved in two spectacular events.
"If you have already registered to be a volunteer at the Games, have not heard from us or received job notification, and have the necessary basic skills, you could be just what we're looking for.
"We need volunteers who can spare a minimum of 22 to 25 days from the beginning of May until the ceremonies on July 25 and August 4."
Anyone interested can call the volunteer hotline on 0870 241 7374, Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm.
