A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after a car accident in Bolton early today.
The 21-year-old man is in the intensive care unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital. It is thought he suffered a serious head injury.
Police said he was due to undergo a headscan today to establish the extent of his injuries.
The injured man is from Bolton but has not been named. His condition is described as critical.
Mystery surrounds the details of the accident at 3.50am today in Park Road, Bolton, near to the junction with Mayor Street and the approach to Spa Road, and police are trying to establish what happened.
Sgt Ken Carter, of Bolton Police Traffic Unit, said: "We are still making inquiries into this incident." It is thought one car was involved and the injured man was a front seat passenger. Paramedics attended.
A 20-year-old man from Bolton was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving and was due to be interviewed by detectives today. He has not been named.
