CREATIVE people are being sought to become the Commonwealth Games Performer or Artist in Residence.
BBC bosses want the prestigious position to be filled by a musician, writer, poet or artist.
The successful candidate would work on the corporation's new Games radio station, BBC 2002, which launched on Monday on 97.7fm.
Judges are looking for performers or artists with a close knowledge of the Commonwealth heritage within the North-west.
The initiative is part-funded by the North West Arts Board.
Tim Pemberton, editor of BBC 2002, said: "It's all part of the exciting build up to the 2002 Commonwealth Games."
The successful performer and artist will appear regularly on BBC 2002 from mid-April for the duration of the radio station's licence.
Proposal forms are available from the reception of BBC Manchester, on Oxford Road.
