EVERYONE from gold medallists to golden oldies are being encouraged to visit Bolton during the Commonwealth Games.
The hand of friendship has been extended to all athletes and visitors from New Zealand by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr John Walsh.
It follows the town's adoption of the country for the duration of the Games. The sporting stars will have the opportunity to sample northern hospitality at its best, says Cllr Walsh.
They will get a tour of Bolton and a peek in the Mayor's chamber at the town hall.
"The invitation that I am extending to the athletes is one that I make to all the people of Bolton," he added. "Any group -- from Brownies to senior citizens -- is welcome to come along and have a look behind the scenes at the town hall."
Councils throughout the region have adopted a foreign nation for the duration of the Games.
Bolton and New Zealand were linked through a Breightmet Arts exchange programme.
