A MOTORIST was stopped by the police minutes after he had bought a car.
Garry Mallalieu was halted in Peel Way, Bury, and admitted he had no insurance or a valid MOT for the L-registered Rover.
Mallalieu, aged 43, of Stopes Road, Radcliffe, told Bury magistrates he had gone to see the car and was not sure whether he was going to buy it.
Mrs Marion Nolan, prosecuting, said: "In fairness to the defendant, he does produce an insurance policy which was obtained about an hour after he was stopped."
Mallalieu, who pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no MOT, told the the court that if he lost his licence, his job as a driver/labourer would be in jeopardy.
He was fined £200 with £80 costs. He escaped a ban but was given seven penalty points on his licence.
