ENGLAND ladies' hockey goalkeeper Hilary Rose is being cheered on by her Bolton based family.

The 31 year old, who is ranked one of the best keeper's in the world, has been to the last two Olympic Games with Great Britain and is currently at her second Commonwealth Games.

Hilary, lives in Massachusetts where she is a hockey coach, was only three when she moved from Worsley to Bury St Edmund's, but her family still live in Bolton and have cheered her on as she helped England through to the next stage and the likely semi-final showdown with tournament favourites Australia.

Her mother Joan is staying with Hilary's auntie in Little Lever, while she has an uncle, Frank Croft, in Bromley Cross and sister Julie in Halliwell.

''It has been fantastic cheering Hilary on and we have had the chance to talk to her after the matches,'' said her mother Joan.
