LEIGH Centurions' hot prospect Liam Bretherton is set for a lengthy lay-off from rugby league after the damage to his wrist was revealed to be worse than originally thought.
Head coach Paul Terzis admitted yesterday that Bretherton's season was definitely over, and added that the Abram lad could be out of the game for good.
Bretherton signed for the Centurions three seasons ago from arch-rivals Wigan, and is the worst in a long line of injuries that has plagued the NFP side ahead of September's play-offs.
"Just as we start to see light at the end of the tunnel with the injuries, we get worse news", said a bemused Terzis, who must be tearing his hair out that both Phil Kendrick, broken nose, and Dave Bradbury, suspected knee ligament damage, will be missing from the game with Featherstone at Hilton Park on Sunday.
However, Jon Roper, Chris Morley and Rob Ball could be welcomed back to the seventeen as the Centurions aim to avenge last month's NFP defeat at Post Office Road.
