THERE has been no shortage of action in this year's Goldline Trophy and the drama continued last night as Radcliffe Amateurs beat Ashton Athletic 5-3.
A Gary Andrews breakaway goal followed by a Mark Westhead brace saw the hosts race into a 3-0 lead that became 4-1 by the interval when Richard Stevens crashed a spectacular effort in off the bar.
Simon Gugenwicz made sure of the outcome when he added the fifth shortly after the change of ends, and Amateurs took the points despite a late Ashton rally that halved the deficit.
Elsewhere, Ashton Town had an own goal and a Barry Edwardson penalty to thank for their 2-0 defeat of Tempest United whilst Turton and Old Boltonians played out a goalless draw.
