BLACKROD Town got their Goldline Trophy campaign back on track on Monday as they edged out Atherton LR in a dour game.
LR felt that the poor pitch and long grass negated their passing football tactics and it certainly looked that way as Town blasted themselves ahead with an Andy Morris penalty shortly before the half-time whistle.
Chris Tongue put the result beyond doubt midway through the second period with his first goal of the tournament.
Tonight sees a treble dose of Goldline action. Turton could virtually book their place in the last eight with victory over Old Boltonians, whilst Ashton Town take on Tempest United and Radcliffe Amateurs entertain Ashton Athletic.
