AMAZING grandmother Elizabeth Stones is to trek for charity along the Inca Trail in Peru -- her second big adventure in a year.
Mrs Stones, aged 61, of Linden Walk, Bradshaw, walked a stretch of the Great Wall of China in June to raise cash for the Children's Hospital Appeal Trust.
And now the walker, who has four children and four grandchildren, is aiming to collect £2,500 through sponsors before September, when she will tackle altitudes of 4,200 metres in Peru. The group will camp at the ancient citadel of Llactapata and pass through Inca hamlets and through the Andean forest.
Mrs Stones is no stranger to long walks for charity. She is a member of the Ramblers Association and in 1993 she conquered Ben Nevis to raise cash for cystic fibrosis charities. In 1999, she walked from Blackpool to Bridlington to raise money for the RNLI.
The money raised will be used to enhance the care of sick children in the North-west, including the building of parent accommodation at the neo-natal baby unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital, a project supported by the Children's Hospital Appeal Trust.
Mrs Stones would like to thank all the people who have supported her efforts so far, especially her husband and family. Any person wishing to sponsor Mrs Stones can contact her on 302369.
